Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program – taking the fight to the ground

The Rooted Martial Arts Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program trains students on the principles, techniques and concepts of Jiu-Jitsu for self-defense. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training focuses on ground fighting and promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using proper technique, leverage and taking the fight to the ground then applying joint locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training is recommended for kids over 8, teens and adults to complement Karate training.

Kobudo Program – Karate Weapons

Okinawan Kobudo roughly translates to “Old Martial Way” and refers to a system of weapons training developed between the 17th and 19th centuries in Okinawa by farmers who were banned from owning weapons by the ruling class. These farmers adapted by utilizing traditional weapons including Bo, Tonfa, Sai and Nunchaku.
